Authors: Dr. Petra Engebretsen, Dr. Kevin Winter, Prof. Hamanth Kasan
Abstract
This knowledge review synthesises a decade of WRC-funded research on water treatment innovations applicable in low-resource settings. Technologies reviewed include solar disinfection, biosand filtration, ceramic pot filtration, electrocoagulation, and low-cost UV disinfection. The review provides performance comparisons, cost benchmarks, and a decision matrix to guide selection based on source water characteristics, community size, and available operational capacity.
